Why we're drinking this
We’re all about cheap and cheerful bubbles, especially at holiday times. But it in a pretty blue bottle? It must be a ruse meant to snare the “oh what a pretty label” crowd. But this is honestly good Prosecco at a good price. We generally think of Prosecco – the Italian sparkling wine of some fame — for summer garden parties or kicking poolside. But it can handle a more elegant affair too. Think cool and icy — served in front of a roaring fire. Or just a hot party. 10, 9, 8, 7…

Tasting note
Classic Prosecco, this is (pace Yoda). Delicate on the nose with faint whiffs of pear, citrus and perhaps some tropical fruits. Very lively effervescence. A dry, rather shy wine with a hint of honey sweetness. It’s not sweet, technically, but does have a bit more sugar than, say, a Cava or Cremant. Keep it cool and you won’t mind. Everyone will like this wine, and it’ll slide in easy with all kinds of canapés and appetizers. It won’t be able to take on strong, rich foods, but it’ll do nicely with oysters, gravlax, lightly pickled things, tea sandwiches, mild cheeses and all manner of salty snacks and nuts. A nice party wine at a great price — so you’ve no excuse not to have some bubbles in the house at all times. Especially as we usher in 2017 — and what high hopes we have for the New Year!
