Winery of the Month: Westcott Vineyards
Retirement doesn't look the same for everyone. There isn't a handbook we're all supposed to follow and there is certainly no reason why you have to shut down your work life by a certain age. The Westcott's of Westcott Vineyard are perfect examples of making retirement look however you want it to. After long careers in the tech sector in Toronto, Carolyn Hurst and Grant Westcott packed up their lives, retired from their jobs, and set out to start fresh in the Niagara region. Originally planning to sell crops of grapes to other vineyards, they eventually decided to create their own wine — and boy are we glad they did!
A Family Affair
Making the move out of a city you've spent most of your adult life is never easy. You're leaving behind a lot of relationships and familiarity. Luckily the Westcotts were able to have their son Garrett and daughter Victoria join the new family business and help grow the Westcott wine brand. With a beautiful tasting room in a 200 year old restore barn having opened in 2014, the Westcott Vineyards experience is an exceptional one. Located on Twenty Mile Bench in Jordan, you will find amazing food, great live music, and of course — remarkable wine. The entire Westcott family pours themselves into all aspects of the business, which will have you wanting to bring your entire family around to see what they have worked so hard on.
