  Tastes like
  Full bodied with fresh black fruit and pepper, a hint of tar and leather, and moderate tannins. Easy going, but packed with flavour.
  Pairs with
  Grilled steak, burgers, bison, beef stew, brisket, beef empanada, ribs, shepherd’s pie, herbed capon or turkey, duck, lamb tagine or roast leg, semi-soft cheese (Emmantal, Port Salut, fontina).
  Good for
  A casual dinner with big flavours. Fans of a big, fruity wine will love this as a sipper too.

  Why we're drinking this
  This is a stunning little Syrah. And we only call it little because the winemaking team at Creekside also produces some seriously big Syrah bruisers. But we’re enjoying this one especially because it comes from the lovely warm 2015 vintage that seemed almost custom-ordered for Syrah lovers. And it’s drinking beautifully right now, with lots of expressive fresh fruit and that underlying spicy-earth-meaty tone that makes it Syrah. It’s full bodied, to be sure, but very approachable. Another beauty from the heralded Queenston Road Vineyard in Niagara, this wine is not to be missed.

  Tasting note
  Generous, very pleasing fruit tones with a bit of spice: black berries, red licorice, wild strawberries, red currant. It has the requisite Syrah spice and savoury notes, with black pepper, leather, charcuterie. A glorious balance of flavour tensions backed with mineral and pencil shavings. Firm structure that is nevertheless soft and yielding enough to make this a great sipper. Full-bodied, with moderate tannins. It’ll hold nicely a few years, too.
