Why we're drinking this
Many people love Sauvignon Blanc. Others hate it. It’s a very love-hate kind of grape. That crisp savoury greenness — often described as cut grass, cat’s pee and gooseberry bush — is a polarizing flavour profile. For us, it’s all about balance. A little cat’s pee is ok as long as it’s matched with ripe fruits like apple, pear, melon and even some tropicals like banana and mango. This Riverlore from the Marlborough region of New Zealand achieves that balance nicely. For under $15, it wields a lot of interesting flavours and nice texture. A very well made wine.

Tasting note
Quite aromatic with all the classic notes: cut grass, apple, lime, cat’s pee and a nice savoury backbeat, even a little asparagus and oregano. Come to think of it, it smells like a spring salad! So there’s your food match right there, maybe throw in some goat cheese. This is a super crisp, dry wine, with very little residual sugar content and bright acidity. This is how we like SB: lots of precise fruit flavours that you can pretty much tick off as you taste. Pear? Check. Lime? Check. Melon? Check… Hell, just enjoy it.
