  Why we're drinking this
  Winemaker Paul Pender has, yet again, crafted an irresistible Pinot Noir. His talents with this grape continue to grow, and this 2013 is a wonderful example of the care and attention he puts to making delicate, honest and reverential Pinots. The grapes were hand-harvested from select vineyards on the Niagara Peninsula and aged 16 months in French oak barrels. Pender’s gentle touch allows the full expression of fruit, never allowing the oak to overwhelm the essential pretty fruit character of the grape. Fans of Pinot Noir covet that delicate, fresh quality. This doesn’t mean the wine is shy or bashful — it has firm structure thanks to chalky tannins and bright acidity, making it a wonderful food wine. Even as a sipper, you won’t be able to get enough.

  Tasting note
  Fresh and seductive red berries (cherry, cranberry, raspberry, etc.) on a bed of subtle baking spices and perfectly poised earthy tones. It’s all there on the pretty nose, and these same qualities come through beautifully on the palate. Fruit-forward with restrained savoury tones. Lean but smooth in texture, with just a touch of muscular heft from its firm acidity and medium tannins. A crisp, clean wine with considerable charm. The finish is medium, fruity and perfectly balanced.
