Why we're drinking this
If spring gets here, and it surely will, you’ll want some of this at the ready. This delightful pink sparkler comes from the well-known modern Prosecco producer Bottega, whose major claim to fame is its presence in, as stated on the website, “most airport duty free shops of the world.” It’s a crowd-pleasing straight-up little charmer. Reasons for drinking this simple but fun wine — in no particular order — are: 1) it’s cheap; 2) it’s bubbly; 3) it’s pink; 4) it’s delightfully refreshing.

Tasting note
This is a very pretty light salmon pink colour with furious tiny bubbles, more fizz than mousse, making this a party wine that everyone will want in their glass. It’s light on the nose, with fresh raspberry, cranberry and citrus notes, with some rose petal and Turkish delight. To taste, it’s dry with a touch of sweetness that returns on the finish. It’s certainly not a sweet wine, though, rather just barely off-dry. It’s a light, easy-drinker, with flavours of raspberry, cranberry, lime and grapefruit. At this price, you don’t need an occasion to crack some sparkling. Budding crocuses are reason enough.
