Why we're drinking this
Torres has set the bar for big cabs from the Penedès region of Spain. The wines can offer incredible value, drinking as if they cost two or three times the price. The quality of Spanish wines has risen rapidly over the past 15+ years due to modernization and foreign investment, so if you haven’t had a Spanish wine lately, now’s the time. Fire up the BBQ and grab a ribeye!
Tasting note
This is a big, juicy wine with formidable structure. You’ll find aromas and flavours of blackberries, blueberries and dark plum, and savory notes of black tea and black olive. It’s got some weight in the mouth and the tannins are pronounced. This is a good thing. The wine will stand up to and enhance foods with big flavours and textures. It will improve with further ageing, too, but it’s pretty darn good right now.
