Why we're drinking this
Nevermind that this gorgeous Cab is from the Okanagan Valley in B.C., this baby can go mano e mano with premium wines from Cab-obsessed regions of Chile, California or Washington. Indeed, this is New World style all the way — it’s velvety smooth and wonderfully balanced. It’s a texture wine, the kind of wine you could curl up with. Mission Hill is perhaps B.C.’s best-known winery, and a pioneer in the region. Though their wines are consistently good in general, this one is a real knockout.

Tasting note
Pretty perfume of black berries, plum and a hint of vanilla and fragrant yet restrained oak. It’s dry and tastefully lighter in alcohol — at 13%, it’s lean in structure but generous in flavor. Ripe fruit, soft tannins and nicely integrated acidity make this an all-around “serious” wine. Serious, but not haughty. Cab lovers should take to it right away, while those who may be a bit Cab-wary will love its opulence. A great with food, but lovely as a sipper too. Perfect for taking the edge off the coming October chills.
