Why we're drinking this
This is a brilliant baby Bordeaux. Or, more accurately, a beautiful Coonawarra. So full of life and nerve and assertive fruit. Wynns is an old veteran wine brand in Australia, going back to the late 1800s. And Coonawarra is a region famed for Cab savvy-ness. Bingo! Here with an incredible value in an age-worthy wine of strong character. Drinking great now, but with serious longevity.

Tasting note
I tasted this wine every day for five days and it just got better and better. I gave it no special treatment. Just screw cap back on and a spot on the kitchen counter. And every day a big bouquet of blackberries, violets and wood, some herbal notes and a bit of cedar. Later, a bit of soft leather, some dried fruit, nuts. But always big on the black berries and cassis. Same on the palate. A nervy structure keeps it all together, with dry tannins and lively acid. It’s medium weight, but about as big as it gets in that category. Just an outstanding experience.
