Why we're drinking this
Wines from the Cape are hip, you know. Though they have been at it for 300 years. KWV was pivotal in developing the South African wine industry pre-1990s, before world markets opened for South African wines. Since then, KWV has been a prominent brand for value-packed wines that have contemporary appeal. The wines are generally very well made, cleanly articulated and precise. Which really just means they’re damned good!

Tasting note
A wonderful nose of black berries and dark fruit, cassis and a hint of smoke. Balanced with nice acidity keeping it lively. Smooth, easy to drink and enjoy. More fresh fruit, oak spice and a medium finish. The tannins are ripe and smooth too. A formidable wine, but not a bruiser, so it’s perfect for these warm days. Just make sure you chill it below room temperature (you know, less than 30 degrees!).
