Why we're drinking this
Maison Louis Jadot has been in the Burgundy game since the 1800s. Today they are a massive undertaking, making wines that range from under twenty bucks on up into the stratosphere. Most of us will never taste the latter, but we can enjoy the former. For an everyday, well-made Burgundian Pinot Noir at a fair price, this wine is a good bet. It’s got a little more heft and power than most Burgundies in the price range (and above). It has that unmistakable charm, that sexy supple texture, that pretty, fruity perfume — you know, all that Burgundy stuff we love so much.
Tasting note
Red and black berries and spicy plum with a little lift of smoky oak and soft leather. Lovely, subtle savoury notes. A texture that’s not entirely gentle. But in a good way. Tannins are a little gritty, also in a good way. Makes it a good food wine. But if you also like your wine with a little tough love, you’ll like this. It’s alive and kicking.
