Why we're drinking this
This is a reminder of how good Pinot Grigio can be and why it’s worth paying a little more for it. Santa Margherita is a consistent hit at the LCBO and you pretty much can’t go to a house party without spotting a bottle or two tucked under the arm of arriving guests. The price has crept up a bit in recent years, so this two-bucks-off deal is worth jumping on. (It’s even cheaper in Quebec, which almost never happens!) It’s a good wine for easing into summer, something you can chill down and quaff from a tumbler or dress up at the dinner table with some fine stemware.

Tasting note
Pretty floral nose, with citrus and tree fruit. Fresh and invigorating. On the palate, it’s super dry and crisp, with bracing acidity and pure fruit. It’s light to medium in body. The finish is not long, but it’s nice and clean, and the acidity makes you want another sip. A great sipper for garden and patio parties. It’s certainly an elevation over most $15 run-of-the-mill whites, but you do have to shell out a few extra bucks to get the quality. At under $20, it’s good value for sure. For food, try ceviche, oysters, roast chicken, antipasti, cheese and white fish (or grilled salmon).
