Exploring Ontario Wine: Prince Edward County

Kwaf is a wine club highlighting all of the great wine available in Ontario. We support local producers and growers by sharing their many amazing bottles, but we think it's important get out and visit Ontario's wineries in person! As Ontario's newest and fastest growing wine region, Prince Edward County is home to some of Ontario's very best wineries and the perfect place to start your Ontario winery adventures. Found in southern Ontario on the Northeast shore of Lake Ontario, Prince Edward County offers beautiful scenery and limestone-rich soil. In an effort to get you out to PEC and hitting the dirt, we've rounded up some of our favourite area wineries and activities to help kickstart  planning your next day trip or weekend getaway.

Ontario Wine's Rising Star

We will always be the first to sing the praises of Ontario wine. We have many world-class wineries to enjoy and Prince Edward County is a fantastic region to explore Ontario wine in. Due to the limestone-rich soil, wine originating from PEC has a beautiful natural minerality. With well over 35 wineries now calling this region home, PEC definitely has the perfect wine for you. Excelling at Pinot Noir and Chardonnay — thanks in part to the cooler climate — you can also find wineries offering Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Gamay, and more. Exploring a region like PEC where the vineyards are young, makes for great adventure — both on foot and in your glass.

Feeling the cool breeze on your face as you weave in and out of vineyards sounds like the ideal weekend. There are so many options in PEC, so it's time to get exploring!
