    Why we're drinking this
    Domaine Queylus is one of our favourite Niagara wineries. The care that goes into the winemaking here is second to none. The grapes are organically grown, expressing the true terroir of their origin. In this case, from younger vines in Beamsville along with more mature vines of Jordan. Which helps explain the depth of this wine. The grapes are hand-pruned and hand-harvested, and never exposed to any chemicals. This purity comes through in a delicious and expressive wine that is absolutely irresistible. The 2015 vintage, though challenging in the early days, benefitted from a gloriously warm and temperate fall. Happy grapes make for happy wine.

    Tasting note
    In our opinion, a good Pinot Noir is all about texture — well, that and delicious cran-cherry fruit with some underlying earthiness. And that’s just what we have here, in yet another wonderful Pinot from Domaine Queylus. A beautiful nose of red berries, cherries and cranberry tease a wonderfully soft and juicy attack that is just pure Pinot. Soft, lovely, approachable, cute – it’s the loyal puppy of wines. Balanced, bright and juicy, with a pure terroir expression that feels wild and a little naughty. The finish is long, smooth and fruity. Such a lovely wine for a good dinner of roasted birds, grilled salmon (cedar plank) or pork chops, charcuterie, coq au vin, roast pig, game (bison, caribou, venison), rack of lamb, wild mushroom risotto and fresh and semi-soft cheeses. And don’t forget the duck; this wine is made for duck. A really pretty wine for welcoming Spring. As the earth comes alive and the smells of nature fill the air, let this wine fill your glass.
